5:30am: So I wake up at 5:30am. Excuse my ugly sleeping face and drool. It’s my birthday but I ain’t slacking on early rising! I ain’t a slacker!
I do my usual skincare routine. Moisturizer, sunblock and lip balm. I’ve recently added this new product to my routine. If you see me break out in the next video, you’ll know what happened.
6:00am: Because it’s my birthday, I decided to make a new breakfast recipe I learned – banana pancake. Let’s hope I don’t blow up the kitchen, guys.
Let me transform into cooking mama. Here are the recipes. Step 1: mix all together Step 2: fry it all together Step 3: Take it out. I would be the best cooking teacher. Let’s ignore those burnt areas.
6:30am: I do some yoga as usual. Fail a few times. Afterwards, I enjoy my breakfast. I’ve been in the mood for some health and nutrition podcasts. Let me share some recent cool discoveries I’ve learned:
- Caffeine. 200-300 mg is good. 400mg over is bad. No more than 2 cups which equates to 8 ounces a day. It is still left in your bloodstream for 4-6 hours upon consumption so don’t drink it mid-afternoon.
- Protein. Ideally, shoot for 20-35 mg of protein each meal. We can only process about 30mg of protein in one meal. It may turn into fat otherwise.
- Vitamin D. Must be directly in sunlight. Cannot just be indoors to get vitamin D. Too much vitamin D can be risky.
- Movement. Get 1-2 min movement every 1 hour. Snack around 3-4pm. Set a strict time to stop eating.
7:00am: I squeeze in just a little bit of “work” with YouTube writing and editing. I know, feel free to call me out for being a crazy workaholic. Hypocrisy at its best. My excuse is some cliche line “This isn’t work to me! This is my passion!” But there’s nothing better than getting into that good old flow state.
12:00pm: My mom and I stop by a port nearby. It starts to pour a little but that isn’t stopping us from soaking in the beautiful scenery. This fog reminds me of Silent Hill but the beautiful version. It’s beautiful until we hear that Silent Hill siren.
1:00pm: We later stop by a local supermarket. It’s my first time coming to this market. In the market, there’s a beautiful section of flowers. We don’t buy any though because we have some kind of plant killing curse. Every plant that steps in our home magically drops dead.
2:30pm: We head over to our local park to give my birthday present a try. Yes, an electric scooter. Thanks, Uncle Al! Perfect for lazy bums like me. I feel like a boss. But my mom hogs my gift.
3:30pm: When we get back, my mom is busy preparing the dinner so I make use of this free time by learning the piano for the first time. Birthday gift from my mom! You’re watching a complete zero level amateur touch the piano for the first time. I miss my guitar… Any of you piano players out there? Please give me some tips!
5:00pm: I give up on the piano for now and do just a little bit more of YouTube research. Just consuming awesome content from my favorite people (Ali Abdaal, Thomas Frank, Nathaniel Drew, Captain Sinbad etc…)
5:30pm: We all later enjoy dinner together and chat for a long time. My mom has cooked this here. It’s called Petai. Tasty, spicy and stinky. Our local Malaysian food. It literally translates to “stinky beans.” Don’t let the name and appearance fool you. It’s delicious! If only I could send it over to you guys through the screen.
7:00pm: We finally cut my birthday cake at last!!! It’s just my uncle and my mom here because you know, pandemic. And because I have no friends. Guess what’s my wish, guys. Relates to the nightmare of 2020.
The loner me needs to perform “Happy Birthday” for myself in 5 different languages. My neighbors probably think I’m a musician or something since I now own a guitar, piano and microphone. Sorry to disappoint.
8:00pm: After dinner, I take a shower and just relax at night. I started watching a drama called “Vicenzo” as recommended from one awesome viewer. I get hooked and I’m tempted to click “one more episode.” But it’s almost time to sleep. I click it anyway because it’s my birthday and because I’m weak.
10:00pm: Sleeping later than usual. Going to pay for it tomorrow. Remember when I said this: “I ain’t a slacker!”? I lied. Good night guys! Finally 22!
I have a part two post of this so please be sure to check out the second part of this post when it comes! Call me a spoiled brat for celebrating my birthday for two days.
